That "Beer good!" comment of Buffy's was a reference to "Young Frankenstein", directed very competently by Mel Brooks. Peter Boyle's character, the Frankenstein monster, proudly demonstrated his developing language skills by exclaiming, "Fire good!" and pointing to a candle flame a bit too enthusiastically and proximally, promptly setting his fingertip on fire and calling into question the efficacy of language as a useful tool for preverbal knowledge acquisition. The point of Buffy's reference relies on the audience's cinematic literacy and appreciation for correct English syntax. It would be completely lost if the audience had only "b33r gud - u 2" in its repertoire of social interaction examples.
