Dan,

That's a great idea! The size issue could be controlled through chapter
sizes and design, and like you said, you'd still have the original for
making new copies.

As it is written, there is a middle way: You can develop and edit the
document with linked ("referenced") graphics. When the time comes to
send your document out into the big world:

1. CTRL+A (select all)
2. CTRL+SHIFT+F9 (convert all linked graphics to embedded)
3. Save with a new file name (to keep your linked version for future
updates)
