Brief comment to the tech writer who posits that
clear, concise writing ability is not necessary
to perform writing management, help systems with
text provided, etc...

Are you serious? What job doesn't benefit from
clear, concise communication skills?

Those jobs might not make writing central to
hiring, but I sure don't want to work with "tech
writers" or "tech managers" who are illiterate!
Heck, I don't want to work with IT guys who are
(and don't).

Of course I have 3 university based
certifications (tech writing, tech editing,
professional writing), so my views may be biased.
The only value to those certifications I have
seen was to add course work to my degree (to the
tune of 45 credits over all) and samples to my
portfolio (which have been replaced over the
years). The value is typically to impress the
uninitiated. I find tool certifications to be
silly. They are $ to learn unnecessary details
of programs to take tests based on the courses
they want you to purchase.

The field is too broad to certify.

The only solution I know of is to create the
table in 11x17 format and take to a real printer
to blow up per spec. (Kinko's will do).

Good luck,

Hi All --

I have tried to create a large poster sized table

using MS Word.

It apparently has a size limitation of 22" x 22".

Is this true?

Are there any work arounds?

I really need to go larger. [The VP needs it for

a meeting tomorrow.]

I have other SW available: Visio, Excel,
Illustrator, Publisher -- but am
not so familiar with those products.

Any advice will be appreciated.
