Hi Juliet,

Sometimes doing things the right way is a little harder. In Word, you can use sections to number the pages or not. In Frame, you can use separate files within the book to set up numbering. PageMaker uses separate files within a book (or at least it used to). I'm not sure about InDesign.

>From what I've seen, every reputable publisher on the planet starts numbering at the start of the content, not the cover.

Hello
I'm setting up a template for a user guide and there are mixed feelings
about whether to have page numbering starting from the cover, although
obviously not displayed, or to have numbering from the first page of real
text.

Is there an industry convention for this?

Personally I like the simplicity of having all pages numbered, but I can
see that starting from the first page of real text has a logic to it.

Juliet
