Probably too late to be of use to you, but at every company
I have worked I have campaigned to get at least some of
the documents I have written posted to the company's public website. There were good business reasons for the companies
to have done this, of course, but a personal bonus is the
ability to point anyone who requests a writing sample to the
URL of a publicly available document. :)

If there's nothing you can do that with, the only proper thing
to do is to contact your former employers and ask for their
permission to use documents you've created for them as
items in your portfolio.
