-- Geoff, in my experience in non-profits, the following two books have been helpful:

--Jim Collins, _Good to Great_ -- for insight into the overall driving focus of a well-run corporation, and the multilayered decisions that focus involves

--I do not remember the exact title/s, but the I believe it is Greenleaf Foundation has some wonderful texts on servant leadership and board governance, that are good from a management standpoint
