I meant, I don't care what their process is: if they draw pretty pictures, or
use postit notes, set it to music, or write themselves massive notes to do
their analysis. Matters not to me. I'm uninterested in the process they use to
do their analysis.

I care deeply about the end result of what ever their internal process is - is
the writing good and the information well designed.

Oh, my! I have to admit I was very taken aback by that statement!

I whole-heartedly disagree. Analysis has been key in my role as a tech
writer, and now as a manager, this is the most important quality I
look for in a writer. If a tech writer cannot properly analyze
products and information, make sense out of it all, and communicate
that back to a targer audience, then it really doesn't matter how well
they design info or how well they write.

Crap is crap, whether it's lying plainly on the ground or it's neatly
wrapped in fine trimmings.
