Pretty close to you in age Dick..... I'll be 56 in January....

Our first TV was an old Zenith....round and grey-and-white. Laundry
bluing and starch were of little use on the farm. Gallon glass jars
held the fresh goats milk (which you could say was "home delivered"),
yeppers on the Moron Jokes, Buster Brown, Hopalong Cassidy, Roy Rogers
(what was with the jeep Nellie Bell anyway?), Sky King, Howdy Doody,
Kukla Fran and Ollie, Mr. Wizard, Uncle Milty, Sputnik, radio plays
(Johnny Dollar), American Bandstand (I had a kid sister), Philco console
stereos, pre-nagahyde furniture, the Mouseketeers, Jack Benney, Dragnet,
The Honeymooners, Abbot and Costello, Burns and Allen, The Three
Stooges.....

Was in six grade algebra class when Kennedy was assassinated.

First paying job was working in a riding stable, saddling horses for the
"city folk," feeding animals and cleaning the stables. Helped me
decided to get out of farming.....

First tech work was in Dad's TV repair shop. First paying tech job was
as a Communications Technical (Maintenance) for the Navy. Six years and
never on a ship....(our ships were the Pueblo, the Liberty, etc....they
either got captured or shot up by our allies, in the later case it was
Israel).

Things I've done include:

Organic vegetable farmer (before there was certification)
Strawberry picker (Spring)
Apple picker (Fall)
Stable hand

One of these days, I'll find a job I can hold on too.....

As for the answer to your question. (And this is from my wife who has
over 30 years in Credit Union loan management....the banker (or CU)
makes the loan, the borrow takes the loan.

So, there you have it...
