Bill ~

When a customer buys our software, my company ships both a printed
version of our manuals and a PDF version on CD initially. After that
all updates are released via emailed PDFs. Our customers like this
because they can call and request certain chapters as PDFs or can
quickly receive additional copies of manuals as needed.

I am uncertain how long this has been the standard for documentation
here, but it is extremely well received. We even use PDFs for all our
in-house documentation.
