To respond to the Gentlewoman who wondered where "documentation architect" came from when the actual title is "staff technical writer" :-)
The original title was Documentation Architect. The powers that be decided not to use it, I have no idea why. Yes, it is a promotion. I will actually be at the same grade level as a first-level manager.
So, here's the history...the managment staff here decided that Individual Contributors needed a career path that was a technical in addition to the managerial path. Thus, they are implementing this type of role for all disciplines (Development, User Experience, QA, etc). Now, because we've never had this role before in the documentation group (they've always had architects in Development), I'm in the unique position of being able to define the role to some extent. So, I figure I might as well take advantage of the opportunity and come up with something interesting for myself.
