For those who haven't seen it yet (which may be hard
to believe because it's pretty old), zug.com has an
article by a guy who deliberately tried to push to the
limits the idea of using bogus signatures on the
charge slips. He even

I would have thought this was a crock, if I didn't
have my own similar experiences. I've never had anyone
anywhere make even the tiniest effort to check or
validate my signature. Once they have a number so
they're assured of getting the money, nobody cares.

Ah, for the good old days of the gold standard, when
money weighed something. That was health-enhancing
money. A rich man got a workout just carrying his
stash and a feeble robber was an unsuccessful robber. :-)
