For me the 'mechanical' response to concentrating is snapping my gum. I'm
constantly chewing sugar-free gum to keep me from snacking. When I get
distracted enough, I make little popping sounds. Not a problem most of the time
because I share my office with my boss and she usually has Prince blaring in her
earbuds.
