I was just reading Michael Schrage's "Serious Play"
and he describes the problem of the software team
building what the client asked for, only to have the
client tell them "yes, that's what we asked for, but
it's not what we want". Basically, it's a problem of
the thing being too complex for the client to know
everything they want in advance.

Schrage's answer to this is I along the lines of what,
I think, the Agile Development people say:

1. get the top requirements
2. quickly build a protoype
3. show it the client
4. get feedback
5. build more, etc.

I've seen "Agile Development" in past techwr-l subject
lines, but didn't read the messages (not interested at
the time). However, a co-worker here was telling me
about AD, so I think I understand a little. But I have
no experience of how this works in practice.

Anyone?
