Whoa - I didn't say that the interviewers/HR people pre-judged him.
What I wanted to know was what the tipping point was, at which the HR
people decided that he was persona non grata. And I DID admit I was
curious about that - in a thread about things NOT to do at interviews,
I think this wasn't off-topic, and it did yield a nugget from Gene
Kim-Eng.

The original poster has since explained that he clearly crossed all
available lines of good conduct in an office environment - but Gene
drew a new one, which I hadn't thought of before: he shouldn't have
had his cellphone on in the first place!
