I'll bet it already does show progression. It doesn't have to be
management progression. It can be skill and initiative progression.
At some point, you were a entry level writer. You are now with the
qualifications of being "second-in-command".

That is an upwards trend. Trends can also be what you do gig to gig.

Gig 1, you wrote in Word.
Gig 2, you got involved in macro writing (a normal progression)
Gig 3, you wrote in FM
Gig 4, you converted the department's Word collection to FM
Gig 5, you conducted an FM training class

That is a perfectly acceptable progression.
