We support several operating systems _and_ release versions thereof.
(For example, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, HP-UX 10.x, HP-UX 11i and so on.)

In the past I've said something like:

"Hardware Requirements

Most operating system and application vendors specify both minimum hardware
environments and recommended (considerably more powerful) hardware
capabilities. We recommend that your hardware (CPU speed, system memory,
hard disk space) exceed the vendor-suggested recommended requirements for
your operating system and for your application."

Of course, our client software is not very demanding - it's mainly library,
drivers and tools intended to be used by customer-supplied (their own
home-built, or COTS) applications. The power is in our hardware.

In general, if your software is something of a resource hog, you would
highlight how much the host computer resources should _exceed_ the numbers
suggested by the OS vendor.

"Windows Vista recommends a 200GB high-rpm hard disk - we recommend at least
double that size.
Windows Vista recommends 2GB of system memory - we recommend 4GB.
Windows Vista recommends a dual-core 64-bit overclocked, liquid-cooled CPU -
... you get the idea."
