More than likely they just need to upgrade their version of Reader. My
recollection is that Acrobat 6.0 had the option to save in either the 1.3
or 1.4 PDF format. Reader 5 can open 1.3 but not 1.4. If for whatever
reason they can't get Reader 6 or 7, regenerate the PDF using the 1.3 PDF
format.

(Sorry I can't provide better directions than that, but my copy of Acrobat
is at home, and I don't have it at work.)
