RE : Dan Goldstein for Ken Poshedly

Now that you've posted the previous dispute in this publicly available forum
. . .

*************

In different words - for the techwr-l list - every one of your posts ends up
on a server that is [allowed] to be crawled by Google, Yahoo, Live, etc.

>From some of these posts - I am guessing that many think that this is a
Completely Private forum like your other email forums.

So when you are under consideration for a job and they Google your name and
every one of your techwr-l posts concerning your previous employers comes up
. . .

Like this Google clip in the previous post that Dan mentioned : "on behalf
of; Ken Poshedly [poshedly -at- bellsouth -dot- net]"

Tip : Just use your first name in your sig block and for your email name -
do not use your last name.

For Outlook 2003 :

Tools >
Email Accounts >
View or change existing email accounts >
[select your account] >
Click Change button >
Your Name

Example for me : Mark the Writer

**

Final tip as a sometimes manager.

Wonder which of my crew is sending emails under the company name and may
therefore be misrepresenting the company.

Easy to spot opinionated people so you know who to check.

So for example, I Google on "JDoe -at- mycompany -dot- com" and see they have been
posting to "Sanjaya for President" forums or much much worse.

Note that you can get fired for this and there isn't a "Get out of Jail
Free" card for this one.

Use Gmail or some other email server so your boss cannot say you
misrepresented the company's views or policies.

Mark
