I see Microsoft Word as a word processor, where Quark
Xpress is a layout program and FrameMaker is a
documentation authoring system. But I recognize the
power Office has. It is tightly integrated with the
most popular operating system on earth, is easy to use
for all but a fraction of office tasks, and has a
consistent interface that is intuitively understood by
those operating system users.

Microsoft Sharepoint is the new middleware from
Microsoft that puts Office content onto the web. I
have a feeling that it will be important for all
technical writers, content managers, web editors and
even web developers.
