One thing that you may already have done:

In the Modify Style dialog box un-check "Automatically update" for all
of these heading styles.

Subject: Outline numbering for headings

Hi,

I solve one problem and come up with another.

I am trying to apply outline numbering for my headings. Heading 1 or 2
is not based on any style, but heading 3 is based on heading 2.

Every time I try to apply outline numbering the number and the first
letter of the heading appears in one line and the rest in the next. I
did check the paragraph settings and I have no hanging indent. That is
problem number 1 cos I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

2nd problem is when I apply outline numbering to heading 3, both heading
1 and 2 gets messed up. Am I missing out on something or is word tired
of me.

Help !

Zen
