If that is all the STC ever did for us, it would be HUGE. If the
organization got a whole lot better at PR and in addition to the stated
role of advocating for the members, promoting the profession as well, I
think all the other things such as attendance at meetings would take
care of themselves.
What other professions do you know of that have such a direct impact on
daily life in so many industries, but where the public at large, not to
mention those employing us, have so llittle concept of what we do? Our
exact role in projects is supposed to be relatively transparent to the
user, but our presence in the workforce should not be.
