This is SOP for laptops. Unlike desktops, which
can (if you don't get a "big name" brand like Dell)
be built from interchangable components you can
buy off the shelf at any computer store, virtually all
the parts of a laptop except for the RAM and HD
are proprietary. I build all my desktops using all-
retail components so I can't be locked into a single
supplier, but since you can't buy generic laptop
parts, I pick "big name" brands for laptops so
there's less chance the manufacturer will go under
and more chances of finding parts for less on eBay.
