Well, I think that usually turns out to be the case regardless
of the details. Good employees can be badly managed,
poor employees badly chosen, bad management decisions
from on high not pushed back on, unavoidable management
decisions from on high poorly implemented and not well
explained to staff so they understand the need, etc. Unless
I find myself confronted by a problem employee I didn't hire
who's off somewhere doing crack instead of making an
effort to resolve performance issues, it's hard for me to
imagine an employee problem I wouldn't see as at least
partly the result of my mistakes as a manager.
