I was one of the testers for the Fortune 32:16 (circa 1979-1980). It was a
Motorola 6800 based system running Zenix that employed a "Wang-like" WP.
Prior to this system, I used a Wang WP and used Wang's "Glossary" function
to create automated TOC and Index makers, and an automated odd/even page
formatting application (think BASIC programming). I tried to do the same
with the Fortune system and discovered that when you embedded a "delete"
command in the code, it would never come out of the delete mode.
Today, I find it humorous us watching the "Glossary" eat up a document, one
word at a time. Back then, it was a made scramble for the power switch and a
lot of creative swearing.
Ah...the good ole days. Make you wanna pull up a rocker on the veranda, pour
a Tom Collins and watch the bees collect pollen from the rose bushes.
