The current draw on these devices won't exceed 500 mA, as that is the
maximum allowed by USB. If it develops a short or something and tries
to draw more, the computer will shut down power to that port, and you
will probably get a little pop-up on your computer (assuming it's
Windows) telling you that the device is drawing too much current.
