We did that, earlier this year. Just check the Techwr-l archives.
We also did it in 2007.
And 2006.
And 2005.
And...
You get the idea.
In fact, some of us just go back and grab old posts and re-cycle them
when the thread (inevitably) re-incarnates. Others of us have it
memorized like an elevator speech, so it's quick to type.
Usually the thread lasts a few days, before degenerating into a bad
rendition of a Monty Python skit about .... "...You had a room? We
didn't have a room!....Dirt? You had dirt??!?..." Oh, but first, it has
to go through the obligatory one-down-man-ship as we old farts trot out
the tools and computer stuff that we used, back in the day. When you
see some bright lad pipe up about his abacus (usually just after a few
of use mention slide-rules...), you know that cuneiform and cave-drawing
are not far behind.
In fact, your search-term to find the "how I started thread" should
probably be "mastodon" or "mammoth". :-)
