Oh, I've had pretty much the same experience.

While working in a small IT company in the early 00's, the doc team
(there were three of us) looked at our list of tasks, giggled
hysterically, and contacted our CEO for help. The email exchange that
followed went something along the following lines:

Us: You have given us X number of urgent, major projects that require
input from all three of us. We cannot do them all. Which is the top
priority?
CEO: All of them :)

That was the exact response. Down to the smiley.

So of course we made up our own priority list. Which was probably
pretty much the exact opposite of what he intended, but really, what can
you do?
