Becky,

You may want to look into the DOCTRAIN conference series managed by Scott
Abel. DOCTRAIN usually needs volunteers, who can attend the conference for
free in exchange for light duties (desk greeting, monitoring rooms, etc.)
There are generally "free" classes the day before and after the conference.

At this year's DOCTRAIN WEST in Rancho Mirage, CA, Tom Aldus is doing a
session on using structured FrameMaker the afternoon of Tues March 17th. For
more detail on this particular session, go to:

Hope this helps. I have taken some of these courses in the past (e.g. on
Captivate) and found them very useful. Laptops are required and you need to
have downloaded the evaluation SW before attending.

Subject: getting experience with expensive tools

Hi guys,

Anyone have any creative ideas on how to get experience with expensive tools
like Flare and Robohelp, when you can't afford to just buy them and don't
ever work at places that can afford them or have the bandwidth to deal with
changing to a dedicated doc tool?

Thanks!
