Then there are the jobs that want to pay a remote rate with no per diem,
but want the writer temporarily on site for a few weeks, like in DC or
NYC, where the regular remote rate wouldn't even cover expenses! I bid
on a couple of those in DC when I had a friend living there, figured I
could sleep on an apartment floor a lot cheaper than in a hotel. "Hey,
kid, I'll pay you and your roommates $120 a week, I'll stay out of your
way, and I'll tutor math for free." Perhaps it's good I didn't get those
jobs, but I would have liked the opportunity to hang around Air&Space.
