Installation of Vista throughout the organization is almost certainly an
item on someone's forthcoming job-performance review. Installing
something else instead of Vista is almost certainly not.
For evidence of the thinking behind the planning, visit most any
government website. I'm helping a friend find his way through one for
registering as a contractor (he builds welded fence). Here are the steps:
1. Get a login.
2. Discover that your chosen password is unacceptable.
3. Guess at criteria for richer passwords.
4 and 5. Guess some more.
6 through 11. Answer crazy questions.
12. Fill out form with lots and lots of business-specific info.
13. Get message that, "Your registration will be activated in a few days."
[Time passes.]
14. Receive e-mail that the registration is pending, and a phone number
for help.
15. Call the phone number.
16. Be told that you did not correctly validate your account for access.
17. Ask (ME) for help again.
18. (Me) calls them at same phone number.
19. Be told answer 16 was wrong, and to repeat step 12.
20. Tell them that's crazy, we already did step 12.
21. Repeat step 12.
22. Be shown ANOTHER form to fill out with lots more business-specific info.
23. Too much info for me to know, like estimated annual gross for last
three years, number of employees, EIN, etc., etc. Friend is now filling
out that form, I guess.
24. Await whatever happens next.
