The Glossary tag sounds almost like a solution in search of a problem.
I'm assuming that you include the definition inline, but that it shows
up not there but in the "Glossary" section.

Perhaps it would be helpful with multiple authors so that all could
contribute to the glossary without the need for a pile of separate
glossary work at the end of the writing effort. Still would have to
winnow out duplicate and conflicting definitions, including of trying to
figure out, "Now where was this word defined? Oh, no, that's not the bad
definition of it, it must be in one of the other files."
