TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Collin Turner wrote in reply to Dan Goldstein's "NO Politics" comment:
"I think a political discussion on these matters is valid! It's
our jobs that are becoming nomadic and these issues hit us directly."
While you are right that health care directly affects those of us who work
as contractors, but I think Dan is right. Injecting politics, especially at
this time on this subject, will quickly move the thread away from the job
market to a political discourse rife with partisanship. Tech writers do not
need politics to have a heated discussion. All we need is to ask a question
concerning some obscure bit of grammar to do the trick.
On the subject of the job market...I too have had a number of calls and
emails asking me if I'm interested a particular position....unfortunately,
most of them are for the same position and most of the solicitations are
from temp agencies located outside the country (USA). Caller ID and the
Delete key are wonderful friends.

"...I walked to work, quit my job, and kept walking. Better to be a pilgrim
without a destination, I figured, than to cross the wrong threshold each
day." (Sy Safransky)
