I just finished a contract where among other tasks I was setting up a
knowledge base in SharePoint and using InfoPath to create forms to
deploy to SharePoint.

I was impressed that I was unable to do a single thing the first time
without the administrator having to change some permissions or
something. And almost every task involved proved difficult or
impossible to accomplish without a third-party add-on.

Also, the alleged knowledge base template bundled with SharePoint was
unusable. Might have been useful as a proof of concept for use in
demos.
