The classic text is Nancy Mulvany's "Indexing Books." It and a few others are recommended in the Chicago Manual of Style, which also has a pretty good section on indexing. I'd check CMoS for the other recommendations, but it is at my other desk.

Hi all,

Has anyone come across any book on indexing that the can recommend? I'm looking for information on different indexing formats, strategies for systematically going through a document, what to do, what not to do,etc.

Any ideas on resources?
