Considering how long it has been since I could get the budget to have an
editor (nine years), the fact that none of my work or departments have
crashed and burned without an editor is probably an indication that I don't NEED an editor. But if I could get the budget, I would still WANT one.
Exactly. I am certain that my writing is good, but I have been happily "taken down a peg" by good editing on rare occasions. "If you'll move this sentence back here (and make it active voice) you can eliminate those two sentences over there."
