I think this is being blown way out of proportion and has more to do with the breakneck pace with which news has to be posted online. I don't know about the rest of you, but if I had to upload an hourly update to all my documents at the same time our competitors were posting updates to theirs and was being scored by how many times a day I managed to get my updates up a few minutes ahead of everyone else, typos, both small and huge, would be inevitable.
