I feel Peter's pain!

In another vein completely, I write procedures for technicians who are
not usually interested in paging through a thick user guide. It may
have all the answers, but they don't have the patience. Nor are they
going to pick through an online help system.

We have moved to 8.5 x 5.5, landscape flip books on card stock. The
initial reviews of the first one have been very positive.

The technicians use a lot of different equipment and may not touch a
piece of our equipment for a few weeks or months, and then have to pick
it up. So the purpose of the flipbook is to refresh their memory,
answer the FAQs, and offer troubleshooting for the most common
problems.

Wireless communication isn't permitted in a lot of the worksites, so no
fancy mobile stuff for us. An old-style, cardstock, wirebound Quick
Reference flipbook is our most successful offering yet.
