Hi Robert,

I was able to get Inkscape to accept a file that contained exactly the contents of one of the <svg> elements extracted from the file (including the <svg> element itself and all its attributes). I.e., just cut and paste everything from <svg xmlns....> to </svg>.

You could add an xml prolog: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

But that's optional.

I would just grab an <svg> element with all it's contents, drop it in a file, and run.
