Unfortunately this is a delightful feature of most pre-installed systems, so doesn't really factor into the decision. The Aussie company that sold me the ASUS had a bunch of malware on it that I had to hunt down and remove. Further note on the ASUS lappies - they run quite warm, but are slim and light. I had mine on my lap for a few hours, it was noticeably very warm on my legs, but not so bad I had to put anything between it and me.

The main annoyance is all the the phone-home spyware and junk (McAfee). It's like an aggressive, persistent pickpocket who insists that you to buy back your wallet and car keys.
