I just read this thread and read the article, which I found to be
well-written and informative, and feel inclined to join the chorus FWIW. I
work with developers and I also write mostly for developers, and I love it
when developers take the time to learn to write well. Writing is hard work,
and we get much more out of praising the good work of people who have
chosen to focus professionally on something other than writing.

Can and should a professional musician praise the efforts of amateurs? I
think so. Likewise, I have learned to praise the good work of engineers in
organizing information for me in order to make my job easier. In turn,
while I don't try to code for engineers on my team, if I praise their
sincere effort then they are often inclined to listen to my thoughts about
usability when I believe it's important.
