VERBING NOUNS

I heard a verbed noun this weekend:

"He partnered me in the dance."

Observation: sounds like dance jargon. Most verbed nouns tech
writers would use come from specialized discourses where speakers
and writers accept the convention. I wonder if verbing nouns, or
nouning verbs, characterizes specialized discourses.
