Sorry. I thought it had already been mentioned. It is a term used widely in
Europe to describe Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises. That is companies
with fewer than 250 or 500 employees, depending on whose definition you believe.

SMEs are all the range in the UK when it comes to government support. And
Europe is going the same way. Unlike the tech writers SME, this one seems to
be a clear description. I, for one, cannot think of a better alternative.
