I don't think there is any official way to spell it. I prefer Plug-n-Play
myself (no specific reason, except maybe that it's easily shortened to PnP :)

No (although I'm sure Microtheft would love to own the term - they seem to try
to turn everything they can into their own trademark). AFAIK, nobody "owns"
the term.
