A few folks have commented about listing hobbies and interests on a resume.
I haven't done that for a long time, but it was helpful when I was looking
for my first tech writing job.

I was hoping for a job in aerospace, but I had no particular background (other
than interest) in the field. I listed my education and job history, then
at the bottom under hobbies I included "model aircraft construction." That
caught the attention of a manager at one aerospace company, who apparently
realized "Hey, he probably -does- want to work here." After an interview,
I got the job.
