I've been browsing this list off and on for a couple months and not
paying enough attention to notice til now that I should introduce myself.
Mea culpa. I am shy in groups and this many to many stuff is new to me.
I've been a tech writer off and on for many years, but was limited
because I am not inherently intrigued by technology. After a segue into
corporate communications with some tech writing on the side and being
riffed three times in 4 years, I wound up in grad school and teaching. I
love teaching tech writing here (Purdue University) in the technicial
curricula, and teaching freshman composition on the Indiana University
side of the quad keeps me balanced--neither too techie nor too abstruse.
I also work part time as a writer/editor. Having worked for start up
companies and worked for many years as tech writing evolved, I want to
stay involved. For all the hassles, nothing else offers quite as much
variety and stretches my imagination in that way.

ooh, once you get me started, I do prate on. Forgive the long post. If
you wanna know more, ask. My email address is sgunason -at- indyunix -dot- iupui -dot- edu -dot-

Imagine a shy smile, slight blush as I quietly re-take my seat.

Sharon
