Someone else suggested this very thing to me, and I thought it was at the
very least a non sequitur for someone who is familiar with their
newsletter. IMO, the EEI newsletter is a mediocre publication that often
gives the wrong advice. I certainly wouldn't place my confidence in such
group to initiate and manage a certification program.

My two bits:

Although EEI started out some years ago with a valuable mission (to commercialize publications skills beyond their traditional homes), their organization has been politicized in recent years. The result of this is, as you might expect, mediocrity in virtually all aspects of their work, which includes providing contractors, doing pubs projects in house using contractors and staff, and training. I worked for them a few times but gave it up because of their overall confusion and paralysis.

So my opinion is: Don't look to EEI for any kind of leadership in any aspect of communications or publications.
