The technique was developed by John M. Carroll and the definitive
work on the subject is _The Nurnburg Funnel_. Sorry, I don't have
the publishers info at hand. I believe the copyright date is 1991.

Sometime last year he published a follow-up article in (STC's)
Tech Communication.

I managed to find the following web site:

Which is a Univ of Colorado at Denver page entitled "Celebrities
in Cognitive Science". Unfortunately, I could not get the link
to the minimalist overview to work. :-( But this information
should at least get you started.
