Why has no one mentioned (or maybe I missed it) having your employer pay
your dues? When I applied for my former permanent position, continuing
education and professional memberships were topics discussed before an
offer was made or accepted, said topics being introduced by the
interviewer, i.e., my boss. It was one of the deciding factors to my
accepting the position - that company WANTED and expected me to improve my
skills and were willing to fork over the dough to make it possible.

Before you go getting your hackles up, the position was a secretarial one,
usually viewed as expendable by management and certainly not requiring
further education.

Please, no spams. Just my reaction to this LONG thread.
