This one gets my vote. It's clear and most people can distinguish when one
number is "higher" than another.

I definitely don't like this one: It assumes the reader knows that the
protocol for assigning version numbers dictates that the number generally
goes up, not down. If the reader doesn't know that, the reader may
mistakenly think that version 2.3 is newer than version 2.4.
