Our style is "Select Create-->Message" (with conventions previously
defined in the manual) but I also like "Select the Create menu, then the
Message option."

I do *not* like "Select Message from the Create menu" because it doesn't
tell the user what to do in the right order.

Which would you use to describe how to choose a menu option:

"From the menu, choose Create - Message."

or

"From the Create menu, choose Message."
